Here's How To Get Started
So, you fancy yourself as something of a writer? If you do, sit up and pay close attention! In addition to our FAQ and additional information for potential authors, here are 5 tips that may help you get a publishing deal with us:
Tip 1: Make sure that we actually publish manuscripts of the type you are submitting. See FAQ for details.
Tip 2: Make sure your manuscript complies with the format we like. That is, MS-Word documents with text presented in 1.5-times line spacing. Do not justify the text. Make sure you put your name in the footer field of every numbered page. Twelve-point Times New Roman is our font of choice.
Tip 3: Check the spelling and punctuation again, both in your manuscript and in all your email correspondence with us. Remember, we need to be convinced by your ability behind a keyboard. Don't submit a first or early draft, make sure you give us clean, well-edited copy.
Tip 4. Has your manuscript been independently edited by a professional? If you seriously want to get published, taking this step is highly recommended.
Tip 5: Make sure your manuscript is accompanied by a separate synopsis of no more than three A4 pages of 12-point Times New Roman text. Sum up the plot in one or two sentences. Give us a brief chapter-by-chapter breakdown. Tell us why your manuscript is important, why we should be interested, and who exactly you think the target market is. Include your contact details. A little bit about yourself is useful, too.
Tip 6: Email us at [email protected], and make sure you address all correspondence to the commissioning editor at Brick Lane Publishing. If we are interested, we will contact you.
